ISLAMABAD: Significant development has been made by the Pakistan government as appointed Senator Malik Rafique Rajwana as chairman parliamentary committee for appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on Wednesday (today).
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) affiliated Senator Malik Rafique Rajwana has been appointed as Chairman Committee on Appointment of Chief Election Commissioner unanimously.
The committee meeting was held in Islamabad on Wednesday for the election of its chairman. The committee comprises on 12 members of both houses of the parliament belonging to opposition and government. Now the nominations for the post of chief election commissioner would be made. Prime minister has speed up the process of consultation regarding the matter.
Prime minister will hold direct consultation with the opposition leader during the current month. If the opposition leader and prime minister will agree on the name of CEC then it would be sent to parliamentary committee and if prime minister and opposition leader would fail to evolve the consensus on the name then government and opposition will send six names to the committee.
Rafique Rajwana after his appointment as chairman said he will soon summon the committee meeting to discuss on the appointment of new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).
