LONDON: Arsenal survived a late scare to secure a 2-1 victory against Aston Villa and return to the top of the Barclays Premier League on Monday.
Arsene Wenger’s men have slipped to third after wins of Chelsea and Manchester City over the weekend.
The first-half strikes from Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud were enough to send Arsenal back on top, with the London club unbeaten at Villa Park in their last 15 league visits.
Jack Wilshere (Arsenal) had made the initial goal in first-half of the game and Wilshere left footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom right corner, assisted by Nacho Monreal.
Another goal, Olivier Giroud had made the second strongest goal after 1 minute of first goal and Giroud had made the same move from the center of the box to the bottom right corner, assisted by Jack Wilshere.
Aston Villa player Christian Benteke had made the first goal in the net at 76 minute of the game by header from the center of the box to the bottom left corner, assisted by Matthew Lowton with a cross.
