ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday has directed the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) for recovering all missing persons within seven days.
The three-member bench of apex court was hearing the missing persons’ case today headed by the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
CJ Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that there is no law present in the country’s constitution regarding undeclared arrestments.
He said, ‘It is proved that 35 persons were taken to Malakand custody centre by the armed forces.’
Chief Justice questioned, “The Prime Minister of Pakistan is the administrative head of the country; why missing persons’ issues is still unresolved after his interest as it is subtle?”
The Supreme Court also declared that the PM must assures to stop any illegal arrestment in future.
He remarked while announcing the judgement that the apex court ordered the authorities for producing 14 out 35 missing persons in the chamber.
However, the related authorities presented only 7 persons before the Justice Ameer Muslim Hani in which only 6 were identified while rest of 7 were unavailable, he added.
CJ Iftikhar M. Chaudhry said the Secretary Defence that negligence is being made by him as he is not fulfilling the orders, hence the court would take action against him.
