KARACHI: Pakistan’s federal minister of railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique, on Sunday revealed that business trains are giving no profit to the department.
Khawaja Saad Rafique indicated for an expected decision regarding business trains via his recent statement during the visit to Karachi, the metropolis of Pakistan.
While talking to the media in Karachi, Rafique reiterated that significant moves are being taken against the corruption in the department.
He said that a master plan been designed for railways assets in shape of land in Karachi and the authorities would be pressurised to recover it back in case of occupancy.
The minister told the media that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) already apprised him for existence of corruption in railways’ department.
Rafique said that he held meetings with Chief Minister of Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah and Governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan to discuss the department’s reformation process in the province.
Unveiling the agenda of his Karachi visit, Khawaja Saad Rafique said that he wanted to review the steps made for resuming of circular railway system.
He said that a big delay was made in resuming the circular railways even the donors expressed their willingness for provision of assistance.
Rafique vowed that circular railways would be initiated in near future with help of local exporters and donors.
The federal minister claimed that the circular rails will be started at any cost even in the absence of donors; however, in that case the railways department will take step by itself.
