ISLAMABAD: With prolonged power outages continue to irk people, Pakistan is planning to import about 1000 MegaWatt power from Tajikistan within a period of two to three years.
Federal Water and Power Minister Khawaja Asif says that the government has worked on plans to end shortage of electricity in the country.
“The plans has two dimensions including installing new power plants and importing electricity from other countries,” he said while chairing a high level meeting in the capital city of the country.
The government has planned to install 6600 megawatt power plants in Balochistan. While the government is working on importing 1000 MW power from the Tajikistan for which Rs. 1 billion funding has been arranged. For the project, transmission line will be installed within a span of two to three years.
