LAHORE: Provincial government of Pakistan has selected ancient and traditional ‘Panchayat’ system to be imposed for provision of justice across the Punjab.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister and party chief of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif chaired meeting in Lahore while Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other provincial officials were also present in the event held for discussing new Punjab local government bill.
Nawaz Sharif said that ‘Panchayat’ system being introduced in the new local government bill for resolving public issues at local level.
Punjab’s government had decided to hold the local bodies election on non-party basis in the province on Saturday.
He said that the local government system should try to receive best output from non-governmental organizations by proper monitoring of their performance.
PM said that the new system will strengthen democracy in the country as well as the significant increase in standards of education and health.
He said that the new local government system will increase education, health measures with collaboration of private and public sectors.
