LAHORE: Pakistan’s fast bowling legend Wasim Akram has arrived Pakistan with Australian Model fiancee Shaniera Thompson to celebrate Eid al Fitr 2013.
Left arm bowler 47 says, they have reached the country’s Lahore airport to get used to with the local traditions.
Shaniera Thompson said “I am happy to visit Pakistan and I am here for Eid” while Wasim and his family’s happiness can be observed by their face expression.
Thompson was seen in traditional Pakistani dress (Shalwar Kurta) including a scarf and continuously tried to avoid facing media directly by hiding her face from cameras as well as keep off herself by answering media questions.
While answering a question from a media man regarding his marriage, ‘disturbed’ Wasim Akram said that it’s his choice to decide the suitable time for marriage but probably they will wed in next year.
Earlier, Akram proposed Ms Thompson in their lounge room in traditional ‘bended-knee’ style.
According to former public relations at Brighton, Ms Thompson has converted to Islam and will call Pakistan home.
The pair met in 2011 at Melbourne and cricketer said he was happy he had found love.
Akram’s first wife, Huma, died in 2009. They had two boys, now aged 15 and 12.
