ISLAMABAD: A new conflict emerged between the Pakistani government and opposition over the appointment of chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The differences between government and opposition came up over the Prime Minister’s suggested names for the post.
Syed Khursheed Shah, the opposition leader in National Assembly, claimed that government excluded the names from the list given by opposition after consulting different parties.
Shah said that opposition suggested two names for the NAB’s key post including Justice Retired Mamoon Qazi and Justice Retired Sardar Raza.
He added that the names were finalised after consulting opposition leaders including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Farooq Sattar, Pakistan’s Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Awami National Party (ANP) Ameer Haider Khan Hoti.
Earlier, PM Nawaz Sharif wrote letter to opposition leader in National Assembly regarding suggestions of names for NAB’s chairman including Justice Rehmat Hussain Jaffery and Khawaja Zaheer Ahmed.
