LONDON: US National Security Agency (NSA) has placed Pakistan on second number for the tracking of global surveillance data through secret tool ‘Boundless Informant’, the Guardian report revealed.
Pakistan has gathered 13.5 billion intelligence reports during the period of 30 days of March 2013 while the information was tracked via telephones and computer networks, according to Guardian reports.
Moreover, NSA placed Iran on top of the list as it collected 14 billion intelligence reports and Jordan came third with 12.7 billion reports.
In Asian countries, India got fifth position with 6.3 and amazingly China, who faced serious cyber attacks and tracking allegations by US, unsuccessful to win any position in top 5.
It is pertinent to note, the National Security Agency (NSA) is using a secret tool called ‘Boundless Informant’ to track global surveillance data, a report said on Saturday.
The Guardian claims that it has acquired top-secret documents about the NSA datamining tool, called Boundless Informant, that details and even maps by country the voluminous amount of information it collects from computer and telephone networks.
The focus of the internal NSA tool is on counting and categorizing the records of communications, known as metadata, rather than the content of an email or instant message, the report says.
However, the spokeswoman to NSA told the paper, “NSA has consistently reported – including to Congress – that we do not have the ability to determine with certainty the identity or location of all communicants within a given communication. That remains the case.”
