WASHINGTON: Tom Donilon has resigned on Wednesday as national security adviser for US President Barack Obama while Susan Rice to succeed the post, a White House source said.
The source told AP that Donilon’s resignation marks a significant shakeup for Obama’s national security team.
However, Susan Rice will take charge of the post, who is the current US ambassador to the United Nations.
It is pertinent to note, she has been harshly criticized by Republicans for her initial accounting of the attacks on a U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya, which later proved to be incorrect.
