ISLAMABAD: “General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s return to the country wasn’t a result of the judiciary’s call to do the same.”
This was stated by the counsel of the former president, Ahmed Raza Kasuri.
The lawyer said his client respects the judiciary, but will turn towards another court if he is not granted bail from the current one hearing the case.
He also said that courts should ‘not think that the verdict in the case will remain behind closed doors’.
Meanwhile, spokesman of chief commissioner said that they have not received any order yet to convert the residence of former president into sub jail.
Islamabad police took the former president into custody after talks between lawyers and police officials turned successful late last night. Musharraf had earlier fled from IHC after issuance of arrest orders.
IHC scolds IGP
Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui has criticized the Inspector General of Police, Aftab Sultan on the non arrest of the former army chief.
He scolded the police head on ‘making the SSP scapegoat’ over inaction to apprehend Musharraf. “You are the one whom action should be taken against,” remarked the judge.
