ISLAMABAD: The second meeting of the parliamentary committee over caretaker prime minister also ended without any conclusion, however, the members said that they were on a track to select the caretaker PM politically.
The eight-member committee will meet again on Friday at 10:30am.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Khursheed Shah said they discussed the merits and demerits of the candidates during the meeting chaired by opposition’s Yaqoob Nasir. He added that the objections raised during today’s meeting on the nominees would be addressed in Friday’s meeting.
He said that it was their priority to resolve the issue in the meeting and not let it go the Election Commission.
Ghulam Ahmed Bilour said all four nominees had been discussed and the final evaluation would take place on Friday.
It is pertinent to mention here that if the committee fails to make a decision on Friday the matter will be shifted to the Election Commission of Pakistan which will then have two days to appoint a caretaker PM.
