Islamabad: The parliamentary committee has failed to develop consensus over the selection of caretaker prime minister during first meeting here on Wednesday.
The first meeting of the eight-member committee was chaired by the government’s member Ghulam Ahmed Bilour.
Speaking to media after the meeting, Syed Khursheed Shah said that in the first meeting the committee had mulled over the names of Justice (retd) Khoso and Rasool Bukhsh Palejo for the interim premier.
He said that next meeting of the committee would be held on Thursday (tomorrow), adding that the next meeting will be chaired by the opposition member.
He said that the committee would announce the name for the premiership with two-third majority.
Farook H Naek, the former law minister and the member of the committee, said that the committee had no authority to include any new name for the slot. “Any decision will be taken democratically and according to the Constitution.”
