Islamabad: In a second major development since suo motu notice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan over the killings of Hazara community in Quetta, the country’s Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has replaced the incumbent Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Balochistan.
According to television reports, Tariq Umar Khattab, the IG, has been removed by the PM from his post and Mushtaq Sukhera was appointed as the new IGP of the insurgency-hit province. Sukhera was earlier serving as Additional IG Punjab.
Earlier, the PM ordered a targeted operation in Quetta, the city where 89 people were killed and over 170 other wounded in a sectarian bomb attack on Saturday.
Meanwhile, other changes were also made in the police department with Syed Ahmed Mobin appointed as DIG Investigation and Fayyaz Ahmed appointed as DIG Operations.
However, DIG Operations Wazir Nasir was directed to report the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Office.
