Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to the “One China” policy, affirming Islamabad’s unwavering support for Beijing’s stance on the Taiwan issue. In a statement issued on Sunday, PM Shehbaz emphasized Pakistan’s principled support for China, asserting that Taiwan is an integral part of China.
PM Shehbaz Sharif issued a post on the social media platform X (ForemerlyTwitter), stating “As an iron-brother and a strategic partner of China, Pakistan has always extended its principled support to the Chinese position on Taiwan and will continue to do so.”
Sharif remarked that Pakistan adheres to the ‘One China’ policy and recognizes Taiwan as an inalienable part of the People’s Republic of China. He further expressed Pakistan’s solidarity with the Chinese government’s endeavors for national reunification, highlighting that any purported elections or transitions within the self-declared government in Taiwan do not alter the underlying realities of the Taiwan issue.
“Pakistan adheres to ‘One China’ policy, regards Taiwan as an inalienable part of the People’s Republic of China and supports the Chinese government’s efforts for national reunification. The so-called elections or transition of the self-proclaimed government in Taiwan do not change the objective facts on the Taiwan issue.”, PM stated.
The ‘One China’ policy, as referred to by Prime Minister Sharif, underscores diplomatic recognition and endorsement of Beijing’s assertion that there exists only one Chinese government. This policy serves as a cornerstone of Beijing’s diplomatic strategy and is pivotal to its relations with other nations, including the United States.
