Islamabad: Pakistan’s former president Pervez Musharraf is expected to testify through his counsels before the commission constituted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to probe the 2007 Lal Masjid operation.
The one-man commission is headed by Justice Shahzado Shaikh of the Federal Shariat Court (FSC).
Musharraf may also submit a written statement before the commission in which he is expected to defend the operation and answer the accusations against him.
The commission had reportedly decided to summon the former military ruler and former prime minister Shaukat Aziz for questioning after a number of witnesses had alleged that Musharraf was responsible for launching the deadly operation.
The judicial commission was formed by the Supreme Court in December.
At least 58 Pakistan soldiers and arguably hundreds of seminary students, mostly girls, were killed in the 2007 operation.
