Islamabad: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim has rejected the demand by a few political parties that the election commission should be dissolved.
Mr Ebrahim said that the criticism was unjustifiable because all ECP officers were appointed legally and the commission had addressed issues like dual nationality, tax issues and fake degrees of candidates participating in elections.
Earlier, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leadership and the Minhajul Quran International (MQI) chief Tahirul Qadri had met and discussed issues including reconstitution of the ECP.
Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) also had reservations about some members of the ECP, but said they are completely satisfied with Mr Ebrahim.
