Lahore: The provincial government in Punjab, under the supervision Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), held the orientation ceremony of the (IT) University Lahore. The university is being established to provide the youth an opportunity to pursue a prosperous career in the field of Information Technology. The management at PITB feels that IT is one sector in which Pakistan possesses immense potential.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Umar Saif, Chairman PITB said, “The launch of the IT University is a visionary step towards providing the youth quality IT education. We look forward to providing our students with world class and state of the art facilities at both our campuses. The Punjab Technology University (PTU) at Dera Rakh Chahal is being established with the cooperation of Middle East Technical University of Turkey and the territory area would be over 705 acres at Dera Rakh Chahal near Ring Road Lahore.”
The first campus of the Punjab Technology University (PTU) has been established on the sixth floor of Arfa Karim Software Technology Park, which will host around a thousand male and female students. Another six thousand students will study at permanent campus of the Punjab Technology University (PTU) at Dera Rakh Chahal on Ring Road Lahore. The classes of the university are scheduled to start in September.
The orientation ceremony of Punjab IT University was attended by Mian Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, amongst other dignitaries.
