Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday barred Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Acting Chairman Dr Abdul Jabbar to perform his duty further and directed the government to appoint permanent head of the authority.
During hearing of a petition filed by senior journalist Hamid Mir pertaining formation of media commission, the apex court bench headed by Justice Jawad S Khawja remarked that permanent chairman of the PEMRA had not been appointed for last one and half year.
Subsequently, the bench adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite time period.
