Islamabad: The petroleum ministry of Pakistan has sent the matter of CNG tariff raise to the Economic Coordination Committee which will decide its fate in the country.
The ministry has suggested to the committee to bar cars above 800cc to use the utility, but advised to exempt transportation taxis from it. It also suggested that the price of the utility should always be 20 percent less than that of petrol.
The ECC said that CNG stations must be gradually terminated, while stations that have completed 15 years of operation must be closed immediately.
Meanwhile, CNG stations across the country have continued their strike against the said low tariff. Consumers are facing great misery on the hands of gas station owners.
