New Delhi: Following a ruthless defeat at the hands of England in a recently concluded Mumbai Test, former skipper Indian Cricket team Kapil Dev has harshly criticized current captain Indian cricket team Mahendra Singh Dhoni saying that Dhoni does not deserve a place in Test playing eleven.
1983 World Cup winning captain said Dhoni’s place in the playing eleven is in itself questionable as he has failed to perform in last eight to ten Test matches.
“It is a big loss, indeed. We never let other teams dominate in our own conditions. But, this loss has raised some serious questions. We all know that Dhoni has performed badly in the last 8-10 Tests and going purely by performance, his place in the playing XI seems a bit doubtful.”
Dhoni has to face ire from several former Indian cricketers after the crushing 10 wicket defeat against visiting England and Kapil Dev is at top of the lot.
“When you win, a captain takes the entire credit and similarly he will also be blamed when the team loses. He has let himself down and fans are feeling the same,” Dev said.
Kapil said that the team is going through a difficult period after the retirement of key batsmen but hoped that it will bounce back in the remaining two Tests.
