Karachi:Pakistan’s leading telecom operator Mobilink claimed to reach out to nearly 12 thousand people in flood affected areas of Rajanpur, DG Khan and Rojhan, providing supplies of foodstuff and water.As part of the initial phase of its flood relief activity, Mobilink has taken the lead inreaching out to flood affected areas in Southern Punjab.
Distribution was carried out by Mobilink Torchbearers from Multan and Lahore with the assistance of Pakistan Army Battalions, deputed for emergency relief in the area. Food items were handed out in relief camps and to those who have lost their livelihood but are still confined to their dwellings. With road networks damaged by the rains and floods across a vast area, distribution in parts of Rajanpur was carried out with the assistance of Pakistan Army Aviation, whereby helicopters were used for air-drops.
Bilal Munir Sheikh, Chief Commercial Officer, Mobilink shared, “Mobilink has always remained at the forefront of responding to Pakistan’s hour of need. Building on our learnings from the floods in the last two years, our CSR team had been ready with a flood response plan, which has helped us initiate our relief activity as soon as the need has arisen. As always, Mobilink Torchbearers have taken the lead in bringing the flood relief to the affected communities.”
Accordin to official release by the cellular company “Mobilink had launched a rapid flood-relief campaign to counter the impact of flood related devastation, with a specific focus on the vicinity of DG Khan and Rajanpur, where over 100,000 people have been affected as a result of rain and canal breaches.”
Release also said that the Mobilink Foundation has initiated relief efforts in coordination with federal and regional Disaster-Management Authorities to provide ready to eat food supplies for the affectees.
