Peshawar: At least 30 militants were killed by Pakistani security forces, in an act of retaliation, in Orakzai Agency of the northwestern tribal region bordering Afghanistan, security sources said on Tuesday.
The sources said that Pakistani forces opened their fire after they were attacked by the dozens of militants attacked the forces in Dolnai area, killing at least five soldiers and injured 13 others.
“In retaliation, 30 militants were killed and several others injured,” the sources added.
Orakzai is one of seven districts in Pakistan’s semi-autonomous tribal belt, which is witnessing worst terrorism for a decade. The forces have been battling against the Tehrik-i-Taliban (TTP) led anti-state actors since 2008.
