Karachi: Pakistan International Airlines would fully support the first avionics institute of the country to make it a regional hub for producing best professionals in the aviation field.
This was stated by Chairman Pakistan International Airlines Rao Qamar Suleman on Friday while inaugurating the Institute of Avionics and Management Sciences (PIAMS) established by Pakistan Airline Pilots’ Association (PALPA) at PALPA head office.
Chairman PIA further said that this institute apart from creating good image of the country will provide the national and regional airlines with best aviation professionals and the time is not far when Pakistan will be producing pilots and avionics experts who will be serving in the international airlines across the globe.
He said that all the stakeholders of the national airline including the government, shareholders, management, employees, public and even the passengers should strive to turn around the fortunes of the airline and bring back its glorious past to make PIA once again one of the best airlines of the world.
Meanwhile, he announced signing new working agreement with PALPA which is an administrative requirement occurs every two years.
“The agreement will not have any additional financial implications on PIA as PALPA has voluntarily signed it with the omission of chapter 2 considering the airline’s feeble financial position,” he said adding that this sincere gesture of PALPA is a morale booster and with the help of other employees, we can make the airline a success once again.
Captain Suhail Baloch, President PALPA, on the occasion said that his association has always been extending support to the national airline in the best interest of the country.”And now this institute affiliated with Pakistan’s renowned university will help setting new benchmarks in the disciplines of avionics and aviation, which in turn will be helping the national airline,” he added.
“This is the first institute of the country where highly qualified faculty will educate students through methodology and curriculum of international standards and to also equip them with latest technology knowledge of avionics,” he added.
President PALPA further said that the association is fulfilling a commitment made by the pilots’ community and feeling proud that with the passage of time at least a proper building has been developed for the education purposes.
It is to be noted that the building of PALPA Aviation College is equipped with all the modern facilities required for a world class aviation college i.e. classrooms, auditorium, library, and recreational facilities like tennis and squash courts and swimming pool.
He also mentioned that the students, regardless of their financial status, will get admissions in the institute to earn degrees in various disciplines of Avionics and deserving students will also be entitled to scholarships.
