Karachi: US has released a tranche of $1.10 billion to Pakistan on the account of Coalition Support Fund (CSF) after the military high-ups have signed Nato supplies agreement.
US’s congress and defence department has approved the release of funds to Pakistan, which were expenses for military operations made in 2011.
The amount was released after the two governments have signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Nato supplies to Afghanistan via Pakistan.
Pakistan is desperately looking for US pledge financial aid after its foreign exchange reserves continued to depleting in the past six months. The amount of CSF will not only strengthen the external account situation of the country but it will also improve the rupee value against dollar.
US administration linked its aid to Pakistan military operations and its supports to US-allied government in Afghanistan.
It pledged to pay $ 2.5 dollar to Pakistan on the account of expenses to fight against Taliban and insurgents of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
