Lahore: The LUMS Human Resource Department (HRD) organised a session on Building Beautiful Minds for the University employees recently. The session was conducted by Nasser Aziz, an MBA from Yale University, who has been teaching/training at schools, colleges, universities and major corporations in Pakistan for the last two decades. He has also taught at the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB), LUMS as Adjunct Faculty.
The purpose of this session, which was attended by 33 employees from various departments of LUMS, was to enforce that beautiful minds enable people to create beautiful results for themselves and the institute they work for. This training was designed to enable people to develop beautiful minds, live purposeful lives, work towards making a difference, and understand the importance of making positive contributions in the development of society. The session emphasised that beyond simply wishing that someone should do something to make things better, we should become an agent of change ourselves. We should think of the possibilities and then work hard to achieve our goals.
The session helped employees identify their potential and define the role they can play in the betterment of society and accomplishment of organisational goals. The instructor emphasised that the potential of an individual to do something depends upon Self Belief, Vision, Goal, Passion, Knowledge, Attitude, Skills and Learning. These traits later translate into achievements. Also, it was stressed that the value of an individual increases with enlargement of the vision, knowledge and skills of an individual.
HRD plans to hold a number of such sessions in the future to enhance the skills of LUMS employees.
