Zardari telephones Malik; directs to free Pakistani hostages from pirates

Islamabad: Time is racing away for the Pakistani hostages held by Somali pirates as the deadline of May 14 has just arrived but a sign of hope emerged on Monday when President Asif Ali Zardari telephoned Interior Minister Rehman Malik and directed him to take all suitable actions to free the hostages from Somali pirates.

The President also directed Malik to free the hostages from the Somali pirates as soon as possible.

Earlier, Mishal, daughter of captain of hostage ship, appealed President Zardari to help hostage families in order to collect the ransom of $160 million demanded by the pirates.

Mishal also thanked Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) chief Ahmed Chinoy and Chief Minister Sindh for co-operating with the families.

The families of seven Pakistanis held hostage by Somali pirates and facing imminent death, must collected Rs160 million by May 14 for their safe release.
