Lahore: India would get access to Karakorum Highway, artery linking Pakistan with China via ground, if the government decides to unilaterally withdraw of troops from Siachin.
“After Gyari incident, trapping at least 130 troops in avalanche, strategic implications have become important regarding troops’ withdrawal from Siachin by Pakistan,” experts in strategic studies said.
According to the military sources, if the government of Pakistan pulled the troops back it would mean that Pakistan has succumbed to before India on Siachin issue.
“Three thousand troops of Pakistan have been succumb to sever weather in Siachin while India had also lost his 6000 troops,” they added.
The military strategists say an agreement was almost singed between both the countries in 1989 but later issue of deployment of troops put it on hold.
Former Pakistan Chief of Army Staff General (R) Mirza Aslam Baig has to say that the Indian government wants to keep three military posts in Siachin despite to agreement with Pakistan.
His view was that unilateral withdrawal of troops of Pakistan from Siachin would not be a wise decision and further deliberations should be made before taking the final decision
