London: In a recently conducted survey in UK, Diabetes UK—one of leading charities of the country—found that diabetes and high blood pressure mostly go hand in hand.
After surveying around two million diabetics, the charity concluded that only half of them were having normal blood pressure—the remaining half was facing troubles.
Barbara Young, chief executive of the organisation, showed concerns over the issue, saying that connection between diabetes and abnormal blood pressure is worrying. And it only added insult to injury that half of the surveyed people had blood pressure, she said.
Apart from affecting blood pressure, diabetic also has its role in complications such as heart disease, stroke and kidney failure.
Sharing the details of ongoing research last week, Prof Dr M Zaman Shaikh, the Director of Dow University of Health Sciences, said that diabetes in Pakistan was getting out of control.
Pakistan ranks seventh in the world for diabetes where around seven million people are diagnosed for diabetes each year.
Diabetes patients should be aware of the fact that high blood pressure can have serious effects on health. And therefore, they and their doctors should take all the necessary precautions for avoiding such a risky situation.
