Islamabad: Pakistan’s Prime Minister  Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday has warned America that the country’s sovereignty will never be compromised.
Addressing to the joint session of parliament after the presentation of PCNS recommendations, the prime minister appreciated PCNS Chairman Raza Rabbani and his team members for working day and night for the preparation of a draft of recommendations.
He said that for the first time in the history of Pakistani parliament matters of national security and foreign affairs have been debated in the parliament, which was an achievement of this democratic government.
“It’s has been proven time and again that we stand united when it comes to national interests”, the prime minister said.
He said that we learnt from our mistakes the hard way.
“ We red-signalled Nato supplies, had US air force vacate Shamsi Airbase, after Salala attack, in which scores of Pakistani troops lost lives to Nato helicopter gunships”, the prime minister claimed.
He added that it was the victory of parliament that soon after the tragic incident he called a Cabinet’s Defence Committee meeting.
Gilani reiterated that Pakistan would give serious second thoughts to its future terms of engagement with Nato, ISAF, and the US, adding there would be no compromise on the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
The prime minister said that Pakistan has given sacrifices in the war against terror adding that around 5000 soldiers and 30000 civilians have lost their lives in this war.
“I told US President Obama that this war against terror couldn’t be won if the people of Pakistan were not behind us,” Gilani added.
The prime minister further said that Pakistan wanted a stable and prosperous Afghanistan in its neighbor.
