Quetta: A former provincial president of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party, Senator Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani has decided to quit the party over its “wrong policies” toward Balochistan, reliable sources confided.
According to Thebalochhal.com, sources close to Senator Raisani confided that having developed differences with the party leadership over Balochistan, Mr. Raisani, who is the younger brother of Chief Minister Aslam Raisani, has decided to resign from the basic membership of the party. He has recently emerged as a vocal critic of PPP top leadership’s Balochistan policy. He has castigated repeated “controversial statements” of federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik regarding Baloch leaders.
In a recent statement issued to the media, Senator Raisani said practical steps were needed for the solution of prevailing “serious situation” in Balochistan instead of telling “blatant lies” about the actual state of affairs in the conflict-stricken province.
Informed sources also said that Senator Raisani would publicize his decision to quit the PPP next week during a press conference.
Raisani has remained affiliated with the PPP the past two decades.
What is more interesting is the indication that he may switch from the left-wing PPP to the right-wing Jamiat Ulema Islam(Fazal) and can become a very strong candidate for Chief Minister in the next political set up.
