Dubai: Pakistan on Monday completed a historic whitewash of England in the test seriesĀ defeating the Andrew Strauss’ men by 71 runsĀ in the third test of three-match-series at Dubai Sports City .
Pakistan set a massive target of 324 and it seemed to be really tough target for the visitors. Pakistan bowlers again proved their gutsĀ and senĀ the whole England team to pavilion atĀ just 252 runs.
Fast bowler Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal were picked of the bowlers for Pakistan in second innings who took four wickets each and helped Pakistan to complete whitewash.
All England batsmen were chipped in but gained momentum to save their team from humiliating defeat. Opener Alastair Cook remained top scorer for England with 49 runs while wicket-keeper Matt Prior chased him with 43.
Saeed Ajmal was named ‘Man of the Series’ for his outstanding bowling performance in whole series. While young Azhar Ali was named ‘Man of the Match’ for his critical ton in the second innings of the match.
England faced first whitewash since 2006 when Australia defeated in Ashes series held at Australia.
Pakistan were the only sub-continent team who completed whitewash against England.
