Islamabad: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday took the Federal Cabinet and government political allies into confidence over the issue of by-polls and the requirement to give constitutional cover to by-election held under not-fully constituted Election Commission of Pakistan after 18 constitutional amendments.
The prime minster took the cabinet and coalition partners into confidence regarding by-polls and their legal and constitutional aspects.
Federal Information Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan told media after the meeting that the PM briefed the cabinet regarding the ECP and the constitutional amendments required to protect the by-elections held on different constituencies after the 18th amendment under the not-fully constituted ECP.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Gilani took the PML-Q President Ch. Shujjat Hussain into confidence about the proposed 20th Constitutional Amendment. Talking to the PML-Q leader here at the Prime Minister House, Gilani also discussed present political situation in the country. He said the political alliance with the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) would continue as it would strengthen the democracy and the federation.
