Islamabad: Mansoor Ijaz has refused to come to Pakistan to depose before the tribunal investigating the memogate and he would record his statement in London or Zurich, said Advocate Akram Sheikh, counsel for Ijaz.
Speaking to reports on Monday, he said government was trying to trap his client to hold him indefinitely in Pakistan.
Sheikh said, in a teleconference with Mansoor Ijaz, he informed about major changes in security arrangements by the government in violation of commission’s orders.
He said commission had no authority to summon a foreigner to record a statement.
He said Ijaz was ready to give evidences to the commission. He added Mansoor Ijaz wanted to depose before the commission in London or Zurich and he was going to submit an application in this regard.
Replying a query, he said he had written a letter to the army chief but had not yet received any answer from him whether he was complying with the Supreme Court orders of providing security to Mansoor Ijaz. He said that corp commander had also backtracked from his commitment.
