Karachi: The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has suspended its operation to register people applying for Computarized National identity Cards (CNICs), as the relevant staff has been deployed on updating electoral rolls following the apex court’s orders.
People applying for CNICs are facing problems due to suspension of registration processes.Â
Director General Nadra Sindh Zahid Hussain said that the leaves of all the authority’s staff had been cancelled and they had been tasked to only register voter’s names and update the voter lists
However, he said, only 24 registration centers in Karachi and mobiles teams in Sindh would provide people CNIC related facilities and information up till 1.00pm daily. All the centers would issue CNICs to those customers only who had applied before the suspension of the registration process at the centers.
