Karachi: Commissionerate system in Sindh has been restored on late Thursday for the time being. Notification in this regard has also been issued.
Accordingly the Commissionerate System, Sindh Local Government Ordinance 1979 and Police Act 1861 have been restored
According to the notification, current five DCOs will be the commissioners. Five divisions of Karachi will also be restored, the notification said.
According to notification five divisions of Sindh will be revived including Hyderabad, Sukkhur, Mirpur Khas, Karachi and Larkana.
Karachi will have to be divided into five districts.
The new system will replace DCOs by commissioners in their respective divisions.
Earlier, issuance of the notification for commissionerate system’s restoration in Sindh was delayed after reservations of Muttahida Qaumi Movemnent, coalition partner of PPP-led government over the new system.
