Islamabad: A recent survey has revealed that Pakistani nation has divided views about the future of current government.
In a survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan a nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces were asked “In your opinion, President Zardari’s government should continue or should it exit now?”
Responding to this 27 percent believe that President Zardari’s government should continue whereas 71 percent believe that the current government should exit. However 2 percent did not give a view.
In a follow up question, those who favored change (71 percent of the sample) were asked to choose between two views, a view which favored street protests and another view favoring parliamentary means because of the fear that street politics may result in a military government.
Responding to this, the respondents split into three groups: 34 percent favored street politics; 28 percent favored change through parliamentary means, while the remaining did not give a view. Thus on the whole the following picture emerged: 34 percent favored change of government through street politics; 28 percent through parliamentary means; 9 percent were uncertain on the exit approach; 27 percent did not favor early exit; 2% did not give a view.
