Karachi: Police have launched targeted operation against target killers, miscreants and extortionists in different areas of Karachi on late Monday night.
The Karachi police have been provided additional mobile vans and armoured vehicles to arrest target killers and miscreants.
In the first phase, police raids are being carried out in Landhi, Korangi, Malir and Shah Faisal Colony against the miscreants. Police have cordoned off many parts of Shah Faisal Colony and have started house to house search. Police have also roped off different parts of Kalri locality of Lyari.
After the remarks of Supreme Court of Pakistan about poor performance of police in Karachi, Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh Wajid Durrani has ordered all the three DIGs, SSPs and SPs to launch operations in their areas against arms, gambling dens and miscreants involved in other criminal activities.
Meanwhile, police have also raided one of the biggest gambling spots of Asia located in Liyari and arrested 22 gamblers. The police have also taken gambling instruments and cash into custody from the spot. However, police have also arrested four gamblers from Natha Khan.
It is pertinent to mention here that President Asif Ali Zardari has already ordered stern action against criminal elements to Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik.
