Islamabad: Ministry of Finance in Pakistan has blocked Rs.3 billion funds for HEC (Higher Education Commission), in lieu of increase in salaries of HEC employees.
Sources informed that only 7 percent funds out of total of 30 percnet developmental budgetary allocation had been disbursed so far. However, the ministry has so far given no reason for this action.
Due to the blockade of funds, HEC employees were facing difficulty in enjoying the benefits of 50 percnet increase of previous year and another 15 percent increase announced during current year.
The disgruntled HEC employees have been known to have met chairman HEC, Javed Leghari on Tuesday, and conveyed their grievances to him.
