Islamabad: Pakistan to buy 1000 mega watt electricity from Iran within next four year.
Pakistan,s Senate Committee on Water and Power said that new tariff for Iranian power import has been inked.
Rasool Khan, Managing Director, Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) said the tariff agreement is for three years. He said feasibility for 1000MW electricity import from Kyrghystan and Tajikistan has also been prepared, though Pakistan has some concerns about the report.
The standing committee met under chairmanship of Lashkari Raisani, PPP leader from Balochistan province of Pakistan, in Islamabad.
MD, PEPCO, said that under new tariff agreement with Iran, the price will range between Rs 5.95 and Rs 8.5 per unit. He said that 35MW would be imported within two months and Joint Working Group will meet next month in Iran in this regard. However, 220 KV line from Iran to Gawadar would be placed by 2012.
