Kabul: Eight US-led soldiers died in a day in Afghanistan as NATO troops continue to face some of their deadliest days in the war torn country.
NATO on Sunday said that four of the soldiers lost their lives in non-battle related incidents. Four others were killed in fighting in southern Afghanistan.
All the deaths occurred on Saturday.
The US-led military alliance did not disclose the identities and nationalities of the soldiers.
More than 2,500 international troops — most of them American, have been killed in Afghanistan since the invasion of the country in 2001. The developments come as the security situation continues to deteriorate in Afghanistan with US-led troops and government forces killed by Taliban militants on a near-daily basis.
Tens of thousands of civilians have also lost their lives since the US-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.
The security situation has been steadily worsening across Afghanistan over the past few years despite the presence of around 150,000 US-led foreign troops in the country.
