Islamabad: Parliamentarians from the government and opposition benches condemned the brutal and extra judicial killing of a youth by the paramilitary force on Wednesday in Karachi and called for independent inquiry into the incident.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Khuwaja Saad Rafique speaking in the national assembly criticized Interior Minister Rehman Malik who had the slain youth tried to snatched rifle from the Rangers official.” is it such a crime that you will kill any one, he added. He said “The Kharotabad incident was is still in the minds of people and now the Karachi incident takes place”.
Another PML-N senior leader Javed Hashmir said the nation didn’t need such a service rendered by the Rangers. MQM leader Waseem Akhtar said the security forces didn’t learn any lesson from the past.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has vowed that he would himself monitor the inquriru into the matter and the culprits would be brought to justice.
Earlier on Wednesday the Rangers personnel deployed at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park near Boat Basin area of Clifton, killed a youth Sarfraz Shah, claiming the youth was looting a family inside the park and was killed after an encounter.
Later, video aired by local media showed that Sarfraz was requesting mercy before the officials but Rangers officials did not pay heed and killed him. The five Rangers officials involved in the killing of Sarfaraz have been arrested.
