Karachi: Pakistan Navy’s two PC-3 Orian aircrafts were the main target of terrorists who stormed Pakistan Naval Station Mehran last week and engaged the security forces for 18 hours last week.
Navy officer Commodore Muazzim Ilyas in media briefing on Monday said that the navy aircrafts were the main target of the terrorists instead of foreigners who were present at the PNS Mehran.
He said that though 11 Chinese and six Americans were present when the attack took place they were immediately shifted through a bullet proof vehicle.
The officer said that the terrorists entered into the naval base from the eastern part where Pakistan Air Force was responsible for the security arrangements.
Replying a query he said that the terrorists opened fire on the vehicle in which the foreigners were being shifted to create confusion. ”They were not the target” he said.
Muazzim said that the power behind the attack was to whom the PC-3 Orian was matter of concern.
