Washington: An official plane carrying United States President Barack Obama aborted an initial landing Wednesday due to poor weather before safely touching ground in Connecticut, federal aviation officials said.
“The pilot attempted to land at 9:50 am (1350 GMT) and because of poor visibility, he decided to do a go-around and he landed at 10:05,” at Bradley International Airport in the state of Connecticut, Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Tammy Jones told a news agency.
“There was no danger. It was a routine procedure” conducted when a pilot determines there is insufficient visibility to land safely, Tammy Jones said.
White House spokesman Nick Shapiro also confirmed that Air Force One “did a go-round” at Bradley International Airport due to poor weather, and “circled around and landed safely a few minutes later.”
