Islamabad: Pakistan’s Foreign Office while breaking its mum over the killing of Al Qaeda Chief Osama Bin Laden has said that the US operation was according to American policy.
The Foreign Office Spokesperson Tehmina Janjua said the US had the policy of taking direct action in case of receiving information on Osama’s presence in Pakistan. She said Pakistan did not take part in the operation.
She termed the killing of Osama great loss for militants, adding that Pakistan played an important role against terrorism.
Al Qaeda Chief Osama Bin Laden, the alleged mastermind behind the 9/11 terror attacks was killed in a US-led operation in Bilal Town area of Abbottabad near Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul, some 150 Kilometer northeast of Islamabad.
Sources said that five aides of Osama, including his son and a woman, were killed while two wives six children and four accomplices were held in an operation that lasted for 40 minutes. A US official said that Osama received a bullet in the head.
The sources said that four helicopters took part in the operation while one of them was shot down Sunday night. However, it was yet not clear either the chopper belonged to Pakistan or America.
