Karachi: Karachi University Business School has signed a project with international universities for mutual cooperation regarding education and research.
KUBS Chairman Abdul Rehman announced the project on Wednesday while addressing the annual convocation 2011 ceremony at a local hotel. Certificates were distributed among the graduates of the business school.
Speaking on the occasion he said that through the website of the project, students of the business school would be able to exchange information with international universities regarding to market researches and field studies.
He further stated that University of Karachi has taken this initiative in collaboration with the universities of United Kingdom , Malaysia , Turkey , and Greeks. He hoped that the members of the consortium would increase soon and such increase would further enhance the efficiency of the project.
University of Karachi vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui said in his presidential address that mere traditional and higher education do not ensure to safeguard the future of Pakistan , but education based on research does.
He applauded the initiative of Karachi University Business School with regards to the exchange of research information and termed it an exemplary project.
Speaking on the occasion, Karachi Camber of Commerce and Industry President Saeed Shafiq said that the economy was passing through difficult phase, causing unemployment and jump in crime rates in the country. Our economy was facing an annual loss of $50 million due to fight against terror, he said, adding this deficit is being covered by taxing business community and general public.
He called upon the students to launch their own businesses and assured his assistance in this regard on behalf of the business community.
Prominent personalities relevant to the corporate sector including Karachi chamber of Commerce and Industry also expressed their views on the occasion. Speakers on the occasion shed light on the aspects of the project on the quality of education and stressed the need to initiate further projects of such type, while pursuing other institutions so as to boost the research based education in the country.
Representatives of other member countries’ universities announced to be a part of the project through audio and video conferencing facility.
On the occasion, fresh graduates vowed to play their due role in the society for the betterment of the nation and country through applying the skills and knowledge which they have learnt from the business school of the university of Karachi.
