Lahore: A local court on Friday sent Moonis Ealhi to jail on 14-day judicial remand in the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) corruption case.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) presented Moonis before Judicial Magistrate Irfan Basra amid tight security. A large number of Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) workers were present out side the court and showered rose petals on Moonis when he got off the Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC).
Moonis counsel contended that the FIA had done nothing during physical remand.
Moonis, a member of the Punjab Assembly and son of former Punjab chief minister Pervez Elahi, was arrested by the FIA on the charges of corruption in the NICL affairs. Pervez Elahi and other PML-Q leaders have been accusing PML-N and the federal government of politically victimizing Moonis.
