Islamabad: A large number of people, including political activists, took to the streets in protest against the release of CIA contractor Raymond Davis, across the country after the Friday’s prayers as several political and religious parties had announced on Thursday that protest demonstrations would be held against the release.A large number of of Jamete-Islami and Pakistan Tehrike-Insaf activists, including women and children led by Chairman PTI Imran Khan held a demonstration at Aabpara Chowk Islamabad and tried to march towards diplomatic enclave and encountered by police.
Clashes were seen between police and protesters when the police resorted to baton-charge to disperse the marchers.
Speaking on the occasion Imran Khan said that hundreds of Raymond Davisis were roaming across the country, adding that the people would be killed by the Davisis and the rulers would be keeping mum over the massacre.
Khan said that time of change had come and the nation would fight for its rights.
He said that Sharif brothers(Nawaz and Shahbaz) were more dangerous than President Zardari. “People know that who Zardari is” Khan added.
Protest rallies were also taken out by Jamiat Ulemaye Islam, Jammtu Dawa in Lahore and a large number of people participated in the rallies.
Anti-American sentiments run high in Pakistan following the January shooting incident in which two Pakistanis were killed by US national Raymond Davis.
US drone killed 42 Pakistanis in North Waziristan tribal region a day after it bought release for Davis, fanning anti-American sentiment in the country.
