Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has decided to finish Sindh Assembly session ban after meeting with President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on late Tuesday night.
All MQM reservations regarding Home Minister Sindh’s statement have been resolved in the meeting.
Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik said this in a press conference at Governor House in Karachi on late Tuesday night. He said MQM delegation after a meeting with President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has decided to finish its boycott of Sindh Assembly.
He said MQM reservations were right that have been resolved with consensus. He said Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and MQM would work together as working in the past.
Malik said, it was decided in the meeting that party members from both sides would not comments, causing deterioration between both parties. He said a four member committee, two members each from both parties, would be set up to monitor the situation.
He said the committee would be headed by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah while he would work as a coordinator in the committee. The committee would recommend its decision to the CM then CM would take action according to the recommendations, he added.
The minister said that Pakistan People’s Party has not linked with any criminal gang. He said strict action would be taken against all those criminals who are linked with any criminal gang even though with People’s Peace Committee, the sub ordinate body of PPP [according to Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfikar Ali Mirza].
He said PPP, MQM alliance is vital for the larger intersect of the country and for promotion of democracy. He directed CM Sindh to ban on People’s Peace Committee.
Farooq Sattar was heading MQM delegation while other delegates were Raza Haroon, Babar Ghauri, Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Aadil Sidduqui, Syed Sardar Hussain and Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan.
Farooq Sattar hoped that all the thing decided in the meeting would be implemented. He said the meeting would help to eliminate extortionist of People’s Peace Committee and other gangs.
He hoped that masses and business community of Karachi, the economic hub of the country, would enjoy peace and justice and would not be threatened by extortionists.
He said President Zardari assured MQM delegation that their reservations would be resolved.
Senior Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir while talking to a local television said that today’s decision goes in favour of PPP because no action has been taken against Dr Zulfikar Ali Mirza, who passed controversial statement.
He said it would create bad image among masses if MQM decided to end alliance with the government.
