Baghdad: Eight Iraqi soldiers were killed and another 12 injured in a car bomb attack on army unit in Diyala province, some 70 kilometers form here, news agencies reported on Monday.
Reports said that the blast occurred near an army headquarters in Kanaan.
Muthana al-Timimi, head of the security committee of the Diyala provincial council, gave the casualty figures as five dead and 10 wounded and said the blast was caused by a large quantity of explosives placed near the headquarters.
